Jedrzejczyk hints about surprise, tensions rise with Namajunas at Presser

Rose Namajunas has made it clear Joanna Jedrzejczyk’s attempts at irritating her have been unsuccessful. Jedrzejczyk took those attempts a step further Thursday at the UFC 217 Press Conference in the Madison Square Garden Theater.

While the fighter’s faced-off Jedrzejczyk kissed her fist, extended her arm forward and grazed Namajunas’ face. But still no reaction from the challenger. She continued her stoic behavior that had lasted throughout the entire press conference.

“I think you can’t be champion because you can’t deal with the media or the pressure,” Jedrzjeczyk told her.

Namajunas wasn’t interested in a back-and-forth with the champ. She has her mind focused on one thing – the fight on Saturday.

“This is what I wanted,” Namajunas said. “I want to fight Joanna at her best. Everybody has flaws, nobody is perfect and no one should act like they are.”

Perfection is exactly what Jedrzejczyk has in mind. She expressed her desire to one day retire with an undefeated record intact, even if that means shuffling around different weight classes.

“I have a couple aces in my pocket,” Jedrzejczyk said.
