UFC Fight Night 62 Pre-Fight Facts

UFC Fight Night 62 was hit hard by injuries, but the end result will see a welterweight headliner in the organization’s 21st event in Brazil.

Demian Maia (19-6 MMA, 13-6 UFC) battles Ryan LaFlare (11-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) at the top of the 12-fight lineup set to take place at Rio de Janerio’s Maracanazinho Gymnasium. The main card airs on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 2 and UFC Fight Pass.

The card features a Brazilian against a foreigner in every bout, which has been a trend in the UFC’s events in Brazil. To date, Brazilians hold a 107-58 advantage in head-to-head matchups against outsiders in Brazil. That seems like a large disparity, but a greater number of foreigners have emerged victorious in three of the past five events in the country, so the gap is closing.
