Lewis vs Tybura Set as Manila Co-Main Event

Sporting a four-fight winning streak that includes three knockout victories, No. 10-ranked heavyweight contender Derrick Lewis will travel to the Philippines on Saturday, October 15 to battle rising Polish star Marcin Tybura in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila.

In the main event, UFC Hall of Famer BJ Penn makes his return to the Octagon to battle Ricardo Lamas in a five-round featherweight bout. Also added to the UFC’s second event in the Philippines is a clash of flyweight contenders, as Kyoji Horiguchi faces off with Ali Bagautinov.

The event will air live on UFC FIGHT PASS.

Houston’s Lewis has gone from prospect to contender in the last year, blitzing Viktor Pesta, Damian Grabowski and Gabrel Gonzaga before decisioning Roy Nelson in July. This October, “The Black Beast” will attempt to add Tybura to his resume, but the Polish standout is riding high and chasing his own championship dreams after a highlight-reel knockout of his own over Pesta in August.

One of the top talents to emerge from Japan in recent years, Kyoji Horiguchi has won six of his seven UFC bouts thus far, and after back-to-back victories over Chico Camus and Neil Seery, he is on the verge of entering the flyweight title picture for a second time. But first, he has to defeat Russia’s Ali Bagautinov, another former world title challenger who is coming off an impressive victory over Geane Herrera in June.
